Tennis Australia’s Trainee Coaching Course is heading to Gunnedah from 5th – 8th October 2010. This course is designed to train coaches to develop the skills of junior tennis player’s ages 4 – 12 years, with a focus on enjoyment and learner success. The principle focus is to develop participant’s ability to deliver coaching sessions rather than to plan or construct lessons. This course is therefore suitable for people who would like to begin working under the guidance of a qualified coach.

The course will be four days in duration.

Medibank Volunteer & Coach

Do you know a great North West Region tennis volunteer or a coach?

Then here is your chance to say "Thanks!"

Volunteers and coaches are a vital part of Junior Tennis in NSW. Without them it would be impossible for Junior Tennis NSW to operate. Medibank wants to recognise the achievements of these dedicated people with the Medibank Junior Tennis NSW Volunteer and Coach of the Month awards. The awards give you a chance to nominate a coach or volunteer each month in 2010 that has excelled far beyond what is expected. Anyone is able to nominate a coach or volunteer from a tennis club/association/operator in New South Wales who they believe deserves the title of Medibank Junior Tennis NSW Volunteer or Coach of the Month. Click here for more information and to download a nomination form.

Changes to Regulations About Working with Children in NSW

Changes to Regulations About Working with Children in NSW

As from 1 May 2009, self employed people over 18 years of age, who are in child-related employment are required to apply for a certificate to show that they do not have a criminal record that makes them a prohibited person. The certificate will be current for three years.

Who is self employed: Self-employment is where a person works for themselves rather than someone else or a company that they do not own. In a tennis environment this new regulation predominantly relates to contract coaches.

Self employed people MUST obtain a ‘Child Related Employment Certificate’ issued by the Commission for Children and Young People. Penalties of up to $2, 200 apply if you fail to provide this certification.

To obtain your certification or for further information please click here: www.kids.nsw.gov.au
